Eligibility for General Board

  1. The nominee must be a member of ATAS, a student or alumni from a Scottish University or College, and must be physically present for the entire year (i.e. cannot go abroad for more than three consecutive months or take a sabbatical unless the general board decides otherwise).
  2.  A member which is a corporate body shall not be eligible for election/appointment to the general board.
  3. In order to be elected as a management committee member within the general board, the member (alongside fulfilling the requirements under clause 1) must have been a volunteer within the general board in the previous year.
  4.  Volunteers must demonstrate an interest in assisting the management committee in planning and holding ATAS activities and events. Having an active role in his/her school’s Turkish Student Association is recommended but is not necessary for qualification.
  5.  General board members shall hold a registered address in Scotland.
  6.  A person will not be eligible for election or appointment to the general board if they are:
    1.  disqualified from being a charity trustee under the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005; or
    2. an employee of the association.
